The Polar Bear Run is in it's 30th year, benefiting high school music students who participate in Student Music Mission Trips/Choir Tours. The Run began in 1989. Johnson Ferry began hosting the race in 1992, after being approached to take over the race which originally was held on the Mercer University campus in Atlanta, benefiting Easter Seals. The first race had 300 participants, and has steadily grown to its current 2000 participant limit.
This race will be one of the most enjoyable January, cold-weather runs you will ever participate in! Not only do we offer you a fast, flat course, but the fun, food, and great looking long-sleeve technical t-shirt, make this a must run! Only the running is outdoors; the rest of the time, you stay in the warm surroundings of the church's Activities Center. Times for 2K & 5K will be recorded using finish-line chip timing devices.
